FHS String Orchestra!
A 2025 VBODA Program of Honor
String Orchestra is the entry-level orchestra class. There is no audition for String Orchestra. At least three years of experience in orchestra class is required. If you did not take orchestra in middle school but have prior experience on a string instrument, please contact the director.
All rising freshmen and new students should register for String Orchestra, even if auditioning for Chamber Orchestra.
We meet every other day on the "B" day. We perform in at least three concerts per school year and at the VBODA District Concert Assessment in March, typically playing VBODA Grade III or higher. Participation at All-District Orchestra and All-County Orchestra, and Solo & Ensemble is strongly encouraged. Other opportunities such as Section Leadership, Music Council, and Tri-M Music Honor Society are also available to String Orchestra students.
